- You are not expecting a parcel, or the message names no real sender or tracking number.
- A small 'redelivery' or 'customs' fee, usually just a few euros, paid on a page that is not the courier's site.
- A link from a shortener or an odd domain instead of the courier's official one.
- Pressure: 'the parcel will be returned in 24 hours'.
- The page asks for your full card details and sometimes an SMS code from your bank.
What to do
- Do not tap the link. Use the courier's official app or website and type in your tracking number.
- Check whether you really ordered something. Orders from known shops come with a confirmation email.
- Paste the SMS into HackFraud to check the link and wording.
- Forward scam texts to your mobile operator's spam-reporting number, if it has one.
If you already clicked or paid
- If you paid or typed card details: call your bank straight away to block the card and dispute the charge.
- If you typed an SMS code: tell your bank you shared it, because it can authorise payments.
- Monitor your account statements for several weeks.
Report it: in Greece, contact the Cyber Crime Division (cyber.gr, tel. 11188). Elsewhere, contact your local police and your bank.
Frequently asked questions
Why would a courier ask for a small fee by text?
Real couriers rarely collect fees through a link in a text. Scammers use small amounts so you do not hesitate while they collect your card data.
How do I check a delivery text?
Paste the SMS into HackFraud. It checks the link, the sender pattern and the wording.
